  • Make it a point that your fences look good. Examine them for loose posts,holes, paint cracks and peels and be sure to do the neccesary repairs.
  • Tidy your lawn.. Weed your lawn, run the mower to trim the grass and see if the edges as neat.
  • Tidy up your paths. Sweep them clean and free of weeds and other debris. Check the driveway for grease and oil marks and clean them up.
  • A beautiful garden never fails to attract passersby and even potential buyers.
  • Trim trees for dead branches.
  • If you have a pool, make sure that there are no floating debris such as fallen leaves. Clean it out so the water is clear. Weed out and scrub out grown moss on your fish ponds and birdbaths.
  • Tidy up your yard. Remove any debris such as dried leaves and other fallen trees. Make sure your compost is clean.
  • Check your porch, patio or deck for any peeled off paint and replace, repair or remove worn out furniture.
  • See if your home's exterior needs repainting. Wash the walls, the roof space and the windows. Repair and replace any broken windows and torn flyscreens.
  • Clear your garage from clutter. Tidy up tools. This way, your garage will not look congested. See if your garage door opens and closes smoothly and if its locks are in top condition.
  • Clean up your gutters and drains from anything that may block it.
  • Search rooms for anything that ,may need repair especially flooring, the walls, the ceiling and windows. Decided whether you need to replace wallpapers or would rather have the walls repainted to do for cracks. Make sure each room had been throughly cleaned and kept free of any mess.
  • Arrange your storage area. If possible have them organised in boxes. Throw out all the unnecessary things. This will give your potential buyers the thought of a spacious storage area.
  • Check out your faucets and pipes for drips and leaks.
  • You may want to think of buying some indoor plants to accentuate your home.
  • Check all your lights and see if they are working. Replace those that need replacement. Check fittings and switches ans see if they are in good condition.
  • Have your carpets thoroughly cleaned in order for them to have that best look.
  • Clean the counter, the fridge, the stove and the sink to a shine to make your kitchen look neat and inviting. Keep it free of clutter to make it seem more spacious.
  • On inspection day, you may want to put clean towels in the bathroom.
  • Switch on indoor lights and open curtains and blinds so the house will have that delightfully light and airy ambience.
  • Keep your pets elsewher during the inspection.

Lastly, leave your home before your expected visitors arrive. The presence of a home owner may hinder the potential buyer to thoroughly look around as it would give them quite the feel that they may be intruding your place.
